You probably thought i am going to write about some LOTRO comic ... well sorry to diaspoint you.
I want to talk about roleplay.
I enjoy seeing the characters and personalities in our little group. Layered is understatement when describing some of our members characters.
Tragedy, passions, dilemas.
But how about playing that stereotype ?
This is what interests me. Being that knight that saved the damsel in distres, why? Because this is what knights do! Or evil wizard that burns the village , why? Because he is so evil!
I admit. I have passion for comics and passion for B movies.I just love the simplicty of it. The boldnes of the characters.
Conan the barbarian ( yes I anticipate the game very much ) from 1970's written by Roy Thomas and illustrated by Jon Buscema is great example. There is not much behind Conan. No layers. He slays , he steals , he takes the woman he wants and kills her husband. He is the the razor that cuts trough the dramatic logic. Because he is Conan. You know he will win , you expect he will win , and naturally he wins on the end
So, in my small way this is what I am trying to do. Play this comic character.
Recognisable Hobbit. Intentionaly not twisting or trying to find another way or alternative motives.
A character that would make you think " Oh ! This is just what Bilbo Baggins would do ! "
