The Elfmaid and the Prisoner...

Postby Lildarwen » Wed Jul 04, 2007 10:39 am

Lildarwen slowly moves back where she has left the ruffian tied up and gagged. Her companions are now in safety and with a shiver down her back she remembers the wounds and screams of battle.

But Lildarwen has seen many battles - memories flashes back decades ago, as she and the other elven archers stormed under Mithrandir the dark tower of Dol Guldur - standing in an unnatural swamp with black ack abnormal bent trees without any green... She feels again the blade of the Nazgúl penetrate her left hip and hears herself screaming in agony... Too many battles - too many death friends and comrades... the long lasting defeat of the elves.

Her thoughts come back to the present and she enters the hut outside Bree, where she has left the prisoner. Another memory flashes through her mind - the cruel expression on Sayvara's and Emberyn's faces as they were about to torture the prisoner. Why can't they understand? Being like the enemy - using the same methods - will start to corrupt them. And sooner or later they will become like the enemy himself. And then their fight has had no sense at all. No victory... only defeat... no good... only evil.

She opens the door and stares at the bound up prisoner. Fear is in his eyes as the dark shadow of the elf stands in the bright rectangle of the opened door.

'Human - I have come to talk with you. It is up to you if it will be a friendly talk. And the outcome of it is your decision - yours alone.' The voice of the elf woman is without any sign of feelings.

Cold sharp words cut like knives deep into the ears of the human. He looks up - he never understood those strange creatures and there are so many tales about their cruelty and savagery.

Before Lildarwen kneels down in front of the prisoner she checks the rope carefully to be aware he is still securely bound and can't surprise her. Then she pulls out her dagger and the eyes of the humans widen in terror. With a swift move of her hand she cuts the gag, the blade of the elven dagger not even scratching the skin.

'Listen now, careful, human. We will cut it short. You either help us and get some reward - or you stay stubborn and refuse to talk. Then the outcome will be very unpleasant for you. That I promise you.'

The elven eyes are catching the gaze of the human.

'Now tell me more about Terlion, human.....'

Skilled fingers start to play with the dagger in front of the human. Lightning fast reflexes let the light dances on the sharp metal while she waits and listens....
