LotRO going F2P this autumn

Postby Adjanah » Fri Jun 04, 2010 4:23 pm

Of course, this happens a week after I buy a lifetime account. X_X

But still, awesome. Hope they do exactly like they do in DDO.

This makes me happy indeed! :D Free points as a lifetimer for awesome goodness!

Mind you, LotRO has always enjoyed a healthy and mature client base. I'm a tad worried that we'll have griefers flood the servers, especially the RP ones.

Ah well. Part of the reason LotRO has stayed good is due to liberal use of the banhammer when necessary. Any idea if it'll launch in Europe simultaneously?

Griefers are of course always a concern, but eh, we're too highlevel and awesome to meet them anyway - they usually confine themselves to the starter areas.

As I understand it, it'll launch simultaneously. It is confirmed that Codemasters is in on the deal.

Does this mean it's F2P now, then?

Nope, the EU release is delayed an unspecified amount of time. They are supposedly hard at work on it, according to the forums, so soon-ish I guess. :)

I'll be back in game ... just as soon as I'm out of hospital and back in my flat. Though I'm getting a little worried about the maintenance on my house as I've not logged in to pay it in 3-4 weeks ... mostly due to this damn leg and sticking to the netbook.

I thought to let you all know that there is an extended welcome back 'weekend' ongoing, apprently extented till F2P starts. So anybody who has bought Lotro is able to log in using their old IDs, no need to hustle with account stuff or such.

Awesome! I tried to log in the other day - found the welcome weekend, and had a mini party in my head!

Expect to see some good ol' farmboying once freshers is over! (Maybe occationally during freshers... when I should be sleeping between parties... xD)
